The Australian diet has shown to be lacking in many macronutrients & minerals due to our fairly poor soil quality, with Magnesium (Mg12) being one of those minerals we are highly deficient in.  This means eating a clean and healthy diet simply isn’t enough.

 

Of course, you should always be eating the best possible foods you can as a means to obtain your nutrition naturally.  But, the reality is, we absolutely have to supplement.

 

Some of the issues arising form Magnesium deficiency are muscle cramps, insomnia, fatigue, poor memory, anxiety and low calcium levels to name a few.   Mg also plays an important role in carbohydrate metabolism with studies showing in extreme cases Mg deficiency contributes to diabetes and heart attack.

Every day we are bombarded with images, audio cues and delicious smells tempting us to eat those less than healthy junk-food options.  All adding to the difficulty of quitting.  

 

I say quitting, because as a society we have in fact become addicted to junk food, because of the salt and the bad fats in our processed foods.

5 Easy ways to maximise your fitness sessions and avoid silly injuries

As we get older staying injury free becomes a priority, so managing our ageing bodies as we hit the gym is key to successfully reaching our fitness goals.

 

We can often forget to listen to our bodies.  As mature women seeking to re-gain our fitness we push on regardless…like we did in our 20’s.  

 

I  know how hard it is to resist that temptation, especially if we presume it will speed up the whole fitness process.

 

But the reality is, we are no longer 20…wish as we might…and our bodies just don’t work the way they used to.  Much to our disgust.

 

And if we are not careful, we will find ourselves on the slow road to recovery rather than forging ahead with our fitness.

 

Don’t fall into the same trap that I did.  Learn from my lack of judgement and you’ll reap the rewards.

How to lose weight the healthy way when you’re over 40

If you are thinking about getting your body back in shape, chances are you’ve at least briefly considered a celeb diet or quick fix option to help you lose weight.  Let me just say right now…Save yourself the money and the heartache, and forget about the short-term quick fix and focus on the big picture.  Your future…your long, happy and fit future.

 

Give fad diets the wide berth they deserve.  They don’t work…not for long anyway.  If you want to shed some excess fat you might get lucky for a week or two using one of those celebrity crash diets.  But chances are before too long you’ll have fallen off the wagon.  Put your weight back on and maybe even a little extra for good measure.

 

Why?

 

Because fad/crash diets are unsustainable.  Primarily because they are nutrient deficient.

 

Our bodies can only take crash dieting for a short time.  Without proper nutrition, your body will start making you crave extra foods.  And unfortunately, most of us don’t tend to crave veggies.  Your cravings will drive you straight to the naughty foods.  And your ‘diet’ will have failed yet again.
